The Exploding Cake

The cake was displayed as the centerpiece for a drinks and canapés reception held in Paris. Guests were informed that something very special was about to happen and they should concentrate their thought on the cake display. It meant that guests stopped what they were doing and listened to their host’s announcement — ensuring that the host had the opportunity to get the event message across.

“The explosion of the cake acted as an aide-mémoire — people who attended the event still remember the evening and why they were there.

“The exploding cake was a recreation of a series of photographs and video created by Hans Gissinger and Christian Escribà and was done for no other reason that than to do something a bit different.”
